Scientology Volunteer Ministers Call for Additional Help

Scientology Volunteer Ministers from Europe are assisting their counterparts in the United States to help that country recover from the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina two weeks ago.

Close to 600 Scientology Volunteer Ministers are now manning 22 shelters and facilities for evacuees in the states of Louisiana and Mississippi. More than 300 additional volunteers are also on the way but far more volunteers and funds are needed, as there are towns and cities throughout the Gulf Coast of the United States in urgent need of help.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers program was initiated in the mid-1970s when Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, recognized that declining morality and the increase of crime and drug-use in the society showed the urgent need to provide spiritual help at a grassroots level.

With the motto: “Something CAN be done about it” Scientology Volunteer Ministers have formed up groups in countries around the world that help their communities in times of disaster. Participation in this program is not limited to members of the Scientology religion. In fact, this past winter, when Scientology Volunteer Ministers from Italy, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and other countries around the World traveled to South Asia to help the victims of the tsunamis one of their main activities was training others to help their families, friends and communities. Over 100,000 local residents were trained in the simple techniques Scientology Volunteer Ministers use, so they too could help people in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and India overcome the effects this tragedy had on their lives.
